UH Studio Design Academy is a platform for teaching students how to use Blender for architecture and architectural design. We offer courses for complete beginners and for intermediate users who wish to learn more about architectural and parametric workflows within Blender. Our courses are suitable for architecture and design professionals, students, and others who may be interested to understand how to use Blender for architectural Design.
UH Studio Design Academy’s goal is to challenge the notion of having set architectural thinking and design toolset with this basic question in mind - who actually owns your designs?
We provide essential and advanced design courses that help educate architects, designers, students, and artists on working with open source and non-subscription tools. We teach both technical and design courses, focusing on design workflows, presentation, and parametric design.
Currently we are focusing primarily on using Blender for Architectural design. Soon we will have more courses on Blender/Rhino workflows, Freecad, and graphics for architects (Affinity Photo, Designer, Publisher, and Krita). Be sure to subscribe to be among the first to find out about new courses and get early bird discounts.
We also regularly post videos on our youtube channel, to an audience of 31,500 subscribers.
We are currently working on a architectural visualisation course that takes up the model design in the Twisted Tower course and develops it further.
Next on our list will be a part 2 of the Architectural Masterclass, focusing on how to utilise simple Geometry Nodes setups as much as possible to create a more procederual, and flexible workflow.
Afterwards, we will be working on courses that show how to use Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher for architecture.
We will then focus on course that bridge the gap between Blender and Rhino.

We want to offer you the most thorough understanding of how to use Blender for architectural design, which means having a wide array of choice. A lot of choice can be confusing. We have however designed our courses to build upon each other with a core foundation, and then further courses on more specific topics. Here is the usual workflow. If you happen to be quite experienced, you should be able to jump in with the more intermediate and advanced courses.
Learn design workflows that have been tested professionally in prestigious international architecture offices in London.
Access to your design files should not be behind a paywall. We teach you how to work with open source and non-subscription tools
Learn about the newest technologies and design methods from professionals that use the same workflows on the job
It depends on what kind of content you would like to learn about. For introductory overview, you can check out the youtube intro mini-course. For comprehensive overview on the complete architectural design process, the Architecture Masterclass would be suitable.
Depending on the form of studies, the Masterclass would be the most usable, followed by the intermediate Blender for Architecture Design course.
Absolutely! In fact, the courses have been designed with the skills that professionals need to learn the most in a limited amount of time. The Architecture Masterclass is the recommended starting option for professionals.
Yes! if there are any breaking changes, we update our courses suitable to more recent versions of Blender. When you purchase a UH Studio Academy Course, you get it forever, so any course updates will also be updated.
Instead of learning Geometry nodes for the sake of learning it in itself, we believe it is much better to learn as part of various architectural design workflows. Hence why many of our courses include lessons on using Geometry Nodes. The Architecture Masterclass gives a solid introduction to geometry nodes. The staggered building course takes it a notch further where geometry nodes is an essential part of the process.
The mere fact that you are here means that you are curious enough on using Blender! That's great! These days you can do almost everything with both softwares, and in fact you can do much more with Blender! Due to its inherent non-destructive tools. Both programs use the Catmull-Clark subdivision algorithm ("3" mode), but of couse there is also a huge difference! With one, you either have to pay exhubirant fees or risk getting your computer infected with pirated copies. Whereas with the other, you always have access and the software evolves exponentially fast and you will be part of a growing movement.
Our course topics and course materials are produced to the highest quality standards, covering professional topics for architectural design.
